Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed joy at the decision of the Ebonyi State Government under Governor Dave Umahi, to join the All Progressives Congress, APC, noting that it was the right choice by the Umahi-led state administration and the people of Ebonyi.
President Buhari made this known during his recent two-day visit to Ebonyi State where he commissioned various projects like the twin flyover (the King David’s University flyover) at the King David University of Medical Sciences, Uburu; the University Building and the University Medical Hospital; and a 12-kilometre dualised Federal Road, from Mbu in Enugu State to Uburu.
Also inaugurated by the President was the University’s Cancer Centre which was built and equipped by the Federal Government under the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND.
President Buhari also inaugurated the Airport Presidential Lodge at Onueke where a new International Airport is being constructed by the State Government, including a 5km dualised Airport road among others.
Thanking Gov. Umahi for keeping faith with his administration’s development programmes and the manifestoes of APC, the President called to remembrance, his last visit to Ebonyi State when he witnessed the commencement of mind-blowing projects and got a pleasurable hospitality with Chieftaincy titles as the ‘Enyioha 1 of Ebonyi State’ and the ‘Ochioha 1 of South East’ by the Traditional Rulers of Ebonyi State and South-East respectively.
President Buhari further revealed that he was satisfied by the strides of the Ebonyi State Government.
“I am impressed with his performance and I know the projects will last. I congratulate the Governor on these feats and I am very pleased to be associated with them”.
It should be recalled that Gov. Dave Umahi (after contesting and winning the 2015 Governorship Elections) decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the APC on November 17, 2020, on the premise that the South East region has suffered injustice in the PDP.
