A popular Bank was today robbed at Issele-Uku, headquarters of Aniocha North LGA of Delta State, when fully armed robbers unleashed terror in the town during an hour robbery operation.
According to eye witness account, the robbers had stationed their gang members at strategic positions in the town, while other of their members robbed the bank unhindered.
It was also gathered that customers were held hostage inside the bank for over an hour, while other gang members outside were raining bullets sporadically, which led to a trader, identified as an indigene of Issele-Uku from Ogbeofu village shot dead while many others sustained bullet wounds.
Source confirmed that contact was made with the acting PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe of Delta State Police Command on hearing of the operation, he confirmed it but assured that he was in contact with the Division for quick response.
However, unfortunately, throughout the almost an hour operation, the DPO and officers from Issele-Uku Division were nowhere to be found. It was even gathered that the armed robbers had earlier gone to the police station looking for the DPO but he had fled the scene alongside his men.
Meanwhile, some of the eye witnesses spoke to had queried the usefulness of the “Operation Delta Hawk”, confirming that calls were put through to them but they never responded until the robbery operation was successfully carried out.
Recall that same bank was also robbed years ago.
